    On this day, September 1st 1940, a family living north of Shrewsbury, suffered a direct hit from a German bomb during WWII, and the victims are buried in the graveyard here at Christ Church.     Happy 150th Birthday!

    Today marks the 150th Birthday of the 4th Earl of Powis, George Charles Herbert. He was a great benefactor to Christ Church and is buried along side his family just outside the church.     Our ‘Secret’ Garden

    Our garden is really beginning to bloom and is looking quite mature. Though with all this rain and high winds its hard to enjoy it at the moment. I’m sure Lady Violet would have appreciated it when she used to attend Christ Church as its situated at the gate where the Powis family entered the church yard.

    The 5th November 1839 was a day of processions and much festivity in Welshpool due to the Foundation Stone of Christ Church being laid by Edward James Herbert, Viscount Clive (the future 3rd Earl of Powis) to commemorate his coming of age.
