Along side the south aisle of the church runs a flower bed, planted up I believe, by the Head Gardener of Powis Castle many years ago. Bistort and bees
Bistort is now flowering in the graveyard. There’s a clump of it growing in the south side of the churchyard. I really like its pink spires amongst the gravestones. The bees like it too… Image of the Week #39

Laburnum
There are two Laburnum trees in the churchyard and you would hardly notice them nestled in amongst the other trees but at this time of year they look splendid draped in thousands of yellow flowers and bees buzzing all around them. Image of the Week #38

It is very wet and blustery today and Spring still feels a long time in coming. We seem to be craving signs of spring at the moment, in the absence of warmer temperatures and sunshine.
