Lime Wash… Round 2
We have taken down the scaffold tower that has been in the corner of the gallery (our future bedroom) for the last year. Can now have a good view of a little finished corner of the house. Can also have a good view of my first attempt at lime washing. Generally I’m really pleased with the lime wash. I’m mixing…

Image of the Week #10
Earlier in the week, the sun shone through one of the stained glass windows in the Powis corner, at such an angle as to reflect beautifully on the stone wall.

Repurposed and upcycled!
Many years ago (maybe in the 1950’s) a cupboard was made underneath the stone stairs that lead up to the gallery. Some old school desks (possibly from the Christ Church School next door) were carefully taken apart to construct the cupboard. A variety of jobs…
An overview of what we’ve been working on over the last few weeks… Choosing paint colours for the stairs. We both thought blue, but there are so many… While thinking colours, we’re planning which colour to do up on the landing. My current thinking is warm and rich, to welcome you as you go to bed, in contrast to the…

Image of the Week #6
This one’s for Owen, our eldest son who spotted the colours of these trees earlier this week when we were up in the tower. He has just arrived in Canada, on an exchange trip, and is no doubt enjoying the Canadian fall. We are all missing him terribly but are also very proud of his brave adventuring spirit! He has…

Image of the Week #5
Whilst clearing up near this stained glass window the other day, the patterning and colour along the bottom caught my eye. Section of window in North West corner. More information about the stained glass windows here can be found at http://stainedglass.llgc.org.uk/site/101
