Butterflies
At this time there are lots of butterflies flying around the churchyard. So I decided to put together this blog post based on butterflies. Here are some facts about the butterflies flying around at the moment.
Holly Blue: This butterfly is the most common blue butterfly in woods and gardens.
Brimstone: They hibernate amongst Ivy leaves over the winter and they live for over a year.
Small Tortoiseshell: Recently the numbers of this butterfly have been dropping.
Peacock: They spread their wings to show the eye-markings to scare away predators.
Orange Tip: The male is the only one that has the orange tip on the end of their wings.
Speckled Wood: The male stays in pools of sunlight waiting for females to pass by.
